Queensland Showgirl Awards
The Queensland Showgirl Awards is a leadership and personal development programme for young women aged 18 to 28 who are passionate about their communities, agricultural shows and regional Queensland.
For more than 40 years, the programme has celebrated and supported young women who contribute to the strength and vibrancy of Queensland communities. Through the agricultural show movement, participants have the opportunity to grow their confidence, develop leadership skills and become strong ambassadors for their local shows and regions.
Hosted through the Queensland agricultural show network at local, Sub Chamber and State level, the programme continues to create opportunities for young women to connect, learn and represent their communities with pride.
A Pathway for Emerging Female Leaders
The programme gives young women across Queensland the opportunity to:
- Build confidence and leadership skills
- Develop communication and public speaking experience
- Connect with leaders across agriculture and regional communities
- Become more involved in their local Agricultural Shows and community organisations
- Represent and promote regional Queensland on a state stage
Participants come from a wide range of backgrounds including agriculture, education, health, business, media, community services and skilled industries, reflecting the diversity and strength of regional Queensland.
Along the way, participants build lifelong connections, gain valuable experiences and develop a deeper understanding of the important role Agricultural Shows play in bringing communities together.

It all starts at your local show
The Queensland Showgirl Awards journey begins at your local Agricultural Show. From there, participants can progress through Sub Chamber Finals and on to the Queensland State Final, held during the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA).
Young women interested in participating can contact their local Show Secretary or Showgirl Coordinator for nomination information and entry details. If your local show does not host a Showgirl Awards programme, your show may still nominate an entrant to participate at Sub Chamber level.

Aleacea Nixon of Roma was named the 2025 Queensland Country Life Showgirl, recognised for her leadership, community involvement and passion for regional Queensland. Growing up in south-west Queensland and heavily involved in the cattle industry from a young age, Aleacea has long been connected to agricultural shows through cattle competitions, volunteering and community organisations.
A strong advocate for young people in regional communities, Aleacea is passionate about encouraging greater involvement in agricultural shows and creating opportunities for future leaders. Through the Showgirl programme, she hopes to help grow participation across Queensland while highlighting the important role shows play in building connection, confidence and community spirit.
As Queensland Country Life Showgirl, Aleacea is looking forward to travelling across the state, meeting local communities and supporting shows of all sizes. She is passionate about representing young rural women, promoting volunteerism and helping ensure Queensland’s show movement continues to thrive for future generations.
