First judged in 1979, the Royal Queensland Show Led Steer and Heifer Competition is widely recognised as one of the leading competitions of its kind in Australia.

Competition classes include both live and carcass judging, along with schools competitions and an interbreed point score for teams of three.

The Led Steer School Competitions are always a highlight, showcasing the next generation of cattle exhibitors as students and schools demonstrate the skills, knowledge and dedication shaping the future of the cattle industry.

Queensland Ag Shows proudly sponsors the EKKA Natural Fibres Make, Model and Wearable Art Competitions.

Attracting amateur dressmakers and emerging designers from across the state, the competition gives participants the opportunity to showcase their creations in front of an audience of more than 400,000 people at the EKKA.

With categories including Senior School, Adult Outfit, Creative Outfit, Formal Wear, Wearable Art, Casual Active Wear, Showtime and Costume Party, the catwalk is one of the most vibrant and creative spaces at the show.

The competition also celebrates Queensland’s primary industries, providing producers’ families and regional communities with the chance to share their creativity, craftsmanship and talent with a wider audience.

Hosted by the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA), and proudly supported by Queensland Ag Shows, the Quilts Across Queensland competition is open to non-professional exhibitors who have won at their local show.

The competition encourages greater community involvement in agricultural shows while celebrating the skill, creativity and dedication of Queensland quilting enthusiasts.

Quilts Across Queensland also helps promote the art of quilting across the show movement, encouraging exhibitors to continue participating in quilting classes at local and regional shows throughout the state.
