Young Judges and Paraders

The Young Judges and Paraders competitions are an important part of youth development within Queensland’s agricultural show community. They give young people the opportunity to build practical skills, confidence and industry connections in a supportive and hands-on environment.

The Young Judges competition focuses on developing participants’ ability to assess exhibits against industry standards. Competitors place animals in order of merit and explain their decisions using clear, logical reasoning.

The Paraders competition highlights participants’ ability to handle and present cattle in the show ring. Judging focuses on control, presentation and the handler’s awareness of both their animal and the judge.
In Queensland, state competitions are held for dairy and beef cattle paraders, while some local shows may also run handlers competitions for other species.
